ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Hazel

Happy Place Companions started as an idea shortly after my dad had his leg amputated rather suddenly.

The concerns about how he was going to cope and how we were going to support him became a real worry. Between the three of us, we manage to support Dad with regular visits, shopping, dealing with his bills, gardening, pushing the hoover round and the general everyday stuff that needs to be done.

It turns out he was much more capable than we thought!

During this time I thought about how other elderly people cope, how families manage if they live far away or work full time. What could I do to help relieve some of that stress and worry?

Happy Place Companions is here to help by offering all the support that we could give to our Dad but to your loved one, a client or yourself.

I live in Southampton with my husband and mad dog. We have 2 grown up children that have flown the nest. I have had a varied career including Dental Nursing, Pastoral Care in Secondary Education for 20 years and an Activities Co-Ordinator in a Care Home to name a few.

We all have our 'Happy Place'. Mine is my shed in the garden or on the beach (in fact anywhere in the sunshine!) My husband's Happy Place is in his shed at the bottom of the garden (Yes, we have separate sheds!).

My wish is to keep you or your loved one in their happy place and create memories that will brighten their day.
